In 1834 a master rules over a rural village in Prussia - not by nobility or wealth, but by fear. To keep his reign up, he uses his minions: partly human creatures who fear the Master just as much as the villagers do, yet bound to do whatever he tells them to.

His commands are mostly cruel in nature, and fulfilling them makes the minions drift further and further away from their ultimate goal: becoming (or at least feeling) truly human. They desire to build relationships with the villagers - most of whom either fear or despise them.

Players in the game portray the Igor-like minions of the evil Master preying on the nearby Townsfolk. The game rules describe the minions in terms of Weariness and Self-Loathing, and the connections of Love that they
have (successfully or unsuccessfully) tried to foster with the Townsfolk. The game culminates with the death of the
Master at the hands of one of his minions.
