Its the first big gig of the year tonight, so I'm putting up a big giveaway: a copy of the Battlestar Galactica board game. If you haven't played it yet, its a great game of suspicion and deduction.

A tip for those of you who think that humans can't win at the game: acceptable losses. You don't need to win every crisis card, and its often not worth trying. Remember, you're in the game for the long haul and you only need to survive. Save your resources and spend them wisely.

I also wanted to drop a note about a new venture that Melissa told me about called sugargamers.com. Its an all-female gaming community. Melissa is trying to bring more board games and other new hobbies into the group, and she's hoping some of the other women out there would like to join. As for the men, we can be thankful. ;)

I'd also like to express a note of regret that I haven't been able to give this group 100% since its inception. This is one of three meetup groups I coordinate in Chicago, and that's on top of a full-time job with a travel requirement. I'm very grateful for the assistant organizers who have helped to contribute to the site's offerings. If you want to help grow the community and want to get involved, please drop me a note.

I'm off to New Mexico tomorrow, where I'll be meeting members of the New Mexico and Arizona gaming communities. I'll be gone for a few weeks at least, but with luck I'll be back in time for the February event!
