Inmate loses Dungeons & Dragons legal battle
"Singer was told by prison officials that he could not keep the [D&D] materials because Dungeons & Dragons 'promotes fantasy role playing, competitive hostility, violence, addictive escape behaviors, and possible gambling,' according to the ruling." It's not that I disagree with the decision, but that reasoning is ridiculous. D&D hardly promotes hostility more than, say, being in prison does. And I'd rather have an inmate take out his frustrations on an kobold than on the dude who looked at him funny in the yard. Ben |

Is it possible that the prison officials confused "D&D" with "poker"? Because frankly, those are all reasons why I play poker. Except of course that instead of possibly gambling, I'm Definitely Gambling.
